midimuse@madedifferent.aibugs · questions · feature ideasTap the device name at the top left and choose USB or Bluetooth. On iPhone, Bluetooth opens the system MIDI browser; on Mac, Bluetooth MIDI devices are paired in Audio MIDI Setup. Then pick the Capture From channel.
In Session, tap Rec, choose a length and arm capture. Recording starts with the first MIDI note MidiMuse receives. Check that your OP-XY sends MIDI notes, and that its channel matches Capture From in the connection menu.
If the top bar says Internal Engine, sound comes from your iPhone or Mac. Otherwise notes go to your MIDI device, so check that Melody Out uses a channel your OP-XY is listening on. MIDI carries notes, not audio, so the OP-XY’s sound doesn’t play through your phone.
Open Settings and tap All Notes Off.
Follow OP-XY needs MIDI clock from the device. Being connected isn’t enough: the OP-XY has to send clock. If no clock arrives, the tempo sheet tells you. You can also set the tempo in the app.
On the OP-XY, choose the track and pattern, set the length and arm recording. In MidiMuse, swipe the take, choose Send to Device, switch on Melody Out and/or Chords Out and tap Send Pattern. It plays one pass into the recorder. Incoming notes overdub, so use an empty pattern for a clean copy. MidiMuse can’t arm the OP-XY or write pattern files.
In Sketches, use Export MIDI on a sketch. The .mid file has the original, your takes and the chords on separate tracks.
Yes. Tap Import MIDI in Sketches, or open a .mid file with MidiMuse from Files. On Mac, drop it into Sketches or onto the app icon, or use File → Import MIDI (⌘O). Each musical track becomes its own sketch. Supported files use a steady tempo between 40 and 240 BPM, 4/4 time and loops of up to 16 bars.
It’s optional. Turn on Settings → Sync with iCloud on your iPhone and your Mac, signed in with the same Apple Account, and your sketches and takes stay in step between both. Use Sync Now to sync right away. If the same take was changed on both devices, MidiMuse keeps a conflict copy so nothing is lost: compare both before deleting one. With sync off, everything stays on the device.
To capture, you need a MIDI source; MidiMuse is designed around the OP-XY. Saved and imported sketches play on the built-in sounds without any hardware.
